40MW Solar Farm
We were retained to apply for planning permission and undertake a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) for a proposed 25MW commercial solar farm on land at Canworthy Water in north Cornwall. It included a large substation to connect it to the National Grid.
The site was large enough to fall within the Schedule 2 category of the Town and Country Planning Act, requiring a full Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Statement (ES). We carried out the LVIA and, working closely alongside other professionals, coordinated the preparation and submission of the ES.
The area housed a large number of trees, thousands of metres of hedgerows, and a generous pond. Their protection, maintenance and management were integral to our design.
Cornwall Council’s strategic planning committee approved the scheme. The final installed capacity of the solar farm is 40MW.
