Our client sought to extend an existing pub/restaurant in Truro to provide hotel accommodation. Another practice had been instructed to undertake the design work but issues had been raised from a planning perspective which we were instructed to address.
Following detailed negotiations with the local planning authority and a minor redesign, planning permission was granted for the development. The scheme has subsequently been constructed and has proved extremely successful.
Subsequent to this, our client instructed us to design and submit an extension to the car park and amenity areas, which extended into the adjoining agricultural land. The proposal included detailed landscaping proposals to ensure that the impact on the surrounding landscape was acceptable, especially given the large level difference between the pub and the proposed beer garden. Planning permission was granted under delegated powers.
