James recently joined Laurence Associates in June 2017 after completing his Part I in Architecture at Falmouth University. He returned to study as a mature student to pursue his ambition of qualifying as an Architect after working for the last 10 years as a self-employed developer and carpenter.
Having worked on a number of building projects varying in scale, James has also completed a self-build project here in Cornwall, He brings a deep practical understanding of building construction and site sympathetic materials.
James also has a real working knowledge of project managing, working within budgets and arranging sub-contractors and suppliers. He has lived and worked in New Zealand for two years, carrying out small building projects, financing his desire to travel and explore.
James also has a degree in media studies and has worked as a production manager for a surfing magazine where he worked on advertising strategies and developing his passion for design and satisfying his need for creativity.
James foremost is a family man and in his free time he will be at the beach or on Cornish adventures with his fiancé and two young boys. He leads an active lifestyle, surfing all year, swimming, boxing and fitness training.
James hopes to pursue his further studies in Architecture soon with plans to embark on his Part II studies within the next twelve months. He has a huge enthusiasm for all aspects of architecture and is very creative; enjoying drawing, painting, making and working with wood in his free time.
